Since 1994 I've been writing for national and international magazines and newspapers on a freelance and staff basis, covering such styles and topics as: features writing, book reviews, author interviews, travel writing, personality profiles, food reviews, energy, health, business, lifestyle and entertainment.
Are you a producer or publisher looking for writers for a book, television or film project? I've worked with both to conceptualize and write creative projects of all kinds, from television series to focused book projects (i.e. food, history).
Editing
Do you have a manuscript that needs editing, whether a novel, newsletter, website copy, article, or the like? I perform editing at many stages: developmental, when you're at the beginning stages of conceptualizing and executing your manuscript; heavy editing when your ideas are there but the copy needs reorganization and revising; copy editing when you need a lighter touch for clarity and grammar and style. I've edited fiction for publications, publishers, private companies and individuals.
Manuscript Evaluation
Do you have a completed novel or nonfiction manuscript and need a professional critique of your work? I perform detailed and constructive manuscript evaluations, treating each client as an individual and responding to his or her own background and needs. A book industry professional, I am a published fiction writer with an MFA from Britain's top creative writing program UEA, and have also been a professional book critic since 2001, when I began reviewing for the Times Literary Supplement. Since then I have reviewed books for such publications as the New York Times Book Review, San Francisco Chronicle, Miami Herald, and Chicago Tribune.
Are you a company, large or small business, or individual who needs website copy, brochure copy, captions for a photography or other book, newsletter copy or advertisement copy (radio, print, TV)? I have worked in all of these areas and more.
